Knowing Deepak Mittal: Your Fellow Chocolate Team Member #OneTeam

A traveller at heart, Deepak Mittal is a Software Engineering Manager by the day. He works out of the Gurgaon office and you will find him mostly building and tweaking different features for our product, fixing bugs, testing and reviewing code. He lives and breathes all things technical. Time to familiarize Deepak to others in his own words!

    • What does your job at Chocolate entail?
      I am part of the engineering team. We ensure that chocolate’s platform is always up and running. We are a bunch of geeks whom you would find wired to their laptops and talk in a language that nobody understands. I am responsible for developing high traffic video-advertisement exchange server. Also, I am the architect behind developing data-pipeline to aggregate high-volume data in real time.
    • Tell us about your background prior to joining Chocolate
      I am a technology graduate and prior to joining Chocolate, I have worked with companies like, TCS, Yahoo and Naukri.com. I have worked on the client side and have hands-on experience in developing & creating apps some industry behemoths. I have soiled my hands managing app development platforms, improving & enhancing the platforms and developing APIs to be consumed by apps.
    • What are your interests outside of work? What do you prefer doing on weekends?
      I like to travel. My wife and I go on hikes during long weekends and we try to explore at least two new countries every year.Chocolate Team Deepak
    • Which apps are keeping you engaged nowadays?
      Netflix. I have almost stopped watching regular TV. I use Runtastic for measuring my runs. Google street view to explore places for free. I am fond of Skymap app, it’s amazing how you can search for ‘Venus’ and other objects while stargazing.
    • Your favourite moment with the Chocolate team so far?
      We went for a team outing at a resort and played volleyball and cricket. This event was right after a successful quarter and everyone was in a cheerful mood.
    • What motivates you to get going every morning?
      I think of one exciting thing to do the next day, before going to sleep. It could be learning to swim, meeting some friends or eating a bucket of ice-cream. This makes me look forward to the next day.
    • Which place would you like to visit if given a chance?
      Madagascar, it looks super interesting in NatGeo documentaries.
    • Tell us about the biggest challenge that you are facing in your current role?
      AdTech is changing fast, keeping pace with the technological changes taking place in this industry, is no easy task. One needs to stay updated with the latest happenings and come up with new innovative ideas to stay abreast. That’s exactly what we strive for at Chocolate continuous innovation & reinvention.
    • Things that you like about Chocolate.
      Best thing would be the people, with many of them being my close friend. Everyone is an expert in their field and I have learned a lot from them.
    • One movie you loved watching in recent times.
      Dunkirk. I like watching World War II movies.
